Every week and every single day WITHIN those weeks is some new awful thing. Capital One canceled Dumpty’s accounts not because of his “politics” but because of “massive evidence of money-laundering”. (Nothing seems to be actually happening with this information.) Diarrhea lettuce started us off on Recall-A-Palooza, but bacon with metal shavings, blueberries with e coli, and crescent rolls with glass shards are all in the headliner lineup! And my one TRUE horrifying thought is, if they don’t give enough of a crap to not poison people…how diligent are they being with the pet foods?!?
OH! And I saw a headline that says we’re having a bunch of “fungal storms” in the southwest. I refuse to even look to see what the hell that is.
Between all of that and my usual brain-terror of ai doing a Skynet…I stay inside my noggin a lot.

So what can we do to protect our brains and emotional well being? Do what you love. Don’t let them take that from you. If you want to read but haven’t in a while because who can afford to get new books? Go to the library. If you want to watch a movie but renting and subscriptions are expensive? Go to the library! (They have movies and hopefully the Kanopy service! It lets you stream movies and shows for free!) Wanting to do something social? Check your local library’s calendar of events! They almost always have classes or events for people with similar interests!
Now, from a practical standpoint…what can we do to fight back against these hate goblins in charge? You need a place to research all the means and proper channels to stop them from a legal standpoint. You also want a place to see how to most effectively dismantle un-voted for surveillance equipment that has been shoehorned into your community. And maybe you want a place to organize with people within your community to march and hold the line against these jackasses. And you want ALL of these activities to not be monitored like they might at your home on your computer and devices because they have just blown by all laws, morals, and constitutional safeguards of invading your home privacy. Well, boy do I have an answer for you! Your local library has it all! Check it out today!
Honestly it wasn’t until about halfway through writing this that I knew where I was going. And I thought…I have so many important people in my life that chose the library life. I wanted to give them all a shoutout and recommend something that does not buy into the capitalist myth of happiness. Some things are important just because they…are.
Be safe and have a nice weekend. Go read a good book.

Heard a fact listening to a recent AI discussion John Stewart had that was crazy. The last federal privacy law was created in 1988! Apparently, it was an agreement that video rental stores could not share your rental history. Wild times!
Libraries are awesome!

1988?!? That is insane! But also…amazingly believable at the same time. *sigh*
