This week’s offering is a little different. I mentioned I was having a “creatively manic” summer and I still am. I have actually added to that and am currently working on a stamp to use on the back of my art pieces and prints! What is WRONG with me?!?!
One of the main things I’ve been doing is working on renewing my enjoyment of real painting. I used to do a plein aire event at Zoo Atlanta years ago that was so much fun. They would get a group of artists and we would just go paint at the zoo for a week and then sell the paintings at a show and half the money benefited the zoo and half benefited us. It was SO much fun. But like so many other things, 2020 killed it. They attempted a version of it in 2022 but it just wasn’t the same. Fortunately I met and formed a group with an amazing group of artists and I got to hang out with cool animals and learned how much I love painting them!
I saw someone on social media painting people’s pets on cardboard very quickly and I REALLY wanted to give it a shot. It’s great. No over thinking the process and you just slop down paint. Here’s some more of the new work.
So doing this on cardboard does a couple of things. First it allows me to simply paint and not worry about “wasting” a canvas. Second, it lets me sell these for much less to people that may want them. I don’t know how much yet, but I should have some available soon!
