I am genuinely living up to the post title today! Over the weekend I was watching a Youtube video by Heather Cox Richardson (specifically THIS ONE) and she and Joanne Freeman were doing their “WTH Just Happened?” segment. Both are amazing historians and put things into perspective and don’t sugarcoat current events. They were discussing someone misspeaking the term “the Founding Fathers” as the “Founding Frogs” and it tickled them so much.
It was a ridiculous idea.
Also…it made ME laugh so much that of course I had to make them a reality.
First up, the father of the country…George Washing-pond.

Next up, the old inventor and diplomat…Benjamin Frog-lin.

Now the second president, Jump Adams.

And finally, another of the architects…Toad-us Jefferson. As I am not someone who shies away from “bad history” and I have a terribly wrong sense of humor occasionally…I considered doing a portrait of Sally-mander Hemmings. However, that’s just in bad taste and she deserves better. Second (and less important)…of course there’s no actual image of her. Because of COURSE there isn’t.

And that is how I usually find inspiration. Offhand comments and jokes. I hope you’ll follow Heather Cox Richardson and Joane Freeman. I really enjoy their talks and they make me feel better about current events (in a historical context, anyways). Thanks to them for the silly fun inspiration this week!
I hope these give your week a little smile! Off topic, there’s copper and gold in Flock cameras and WAY more in data centers. Just sayin’.

P.S. If you’re new to the Paintmonkey, I hope you’ll subscribe to me here! I post several times a week and it’s (usually) fun nonsense. I am straying further from the dark realm of social media into a world of my own creation. Welcome!
