Randomly Drawn (Sept. 16, 2026)

September 16, 2026

(One of) the big stories recently is the metric tonnage of “mystery meat” coming into the country to save us from grocery costs. The same administration who has brought back measles and polio and given us “diarrhea lettuce” have a “trust us, bro” policy regarding meat that they refuse to tell us anything about. Cool. Awesome.

And while I absolutely HATE this timeline and everything to do with these a-holes in particular…the whole situation tickled at the back of my little Gen-X brain. Why? What voice was echoing in the back of my head? Omg…

…Clara Peller.

Cartoon of Clara Peller from the 1980's "Where's the beef?" commercials for Wendy's fast food chain. Proclaiming "what's the beef?!?" while holding a hamburger full of tentacles and beaks and bir feet.
We HAVE questions.

Now, oddly there are very few good pictures of the late Ms. Peller and one of the best images I found was an old board game with the cover done by the one and only, Jack Davis. Obviously, I used this and one of the few photos of Peller from the commercials.

Box cover of a board game called "Where's the beef?" from the 1980s.
I got behind on this one and Mr. Davis came to the rescue.

It made me laugh. (Then cry a little. But the joke is solid.)

I hope you’re having a good week and things aren’t too rough on you. Take care of yourselves and make sure you’re registered to vote. Lotta scumbags trying to keep from going to jail right now.

  • This is one of your strongest computer coloring jobs to date! Keep up the good work!

    • Thanks! They’re all basically experiments. Different ink lines, colors, etc. My biggest lesson was about using it as colored pencils.
