Sketch Sunday (Aug. 02, 2026)

August 2, 2026

Another Sunday is upon us as well as another…August? When the hell did THAT happen? Anyways here’s a peek at a few pages of sketch oddities.

First, I went with a friend to check out the newest addition to my favorite coffee shop’s locations. Refuge Coffee is an amazing place doing amazing work and I love supporting them. Their newest is in Lulah Hills and is a very cute space. There was even a celebrity there and I believe he might have been listening in on our conversation. (I think he thought my friend was cute.)

Ballpoint sketch of Herbie, the Love bug.
He was creeping around the corner the WHOLE time.

Normally when I share these with you I chop them up out of context of my sketchbook. I do not have those carefully curated “sketchbooks” that people show on social media. Mine are chaotic messes of ink and paint and sometimes blood. (Seriously…I have a couple where somehow I cut a hand or a finger and ended up blood-ing up the page.) So this is a more typical page of my sketchbook which is just a jumble of whatever I wanted to get down in ink at the time. A plan for a cartoon. An elephant that crosses a waterhole on the teevee. A rotting old gourd that even in it’s better days probably smelled terrible and still looked weird.

Ballpoint sketch page on newsprint with random imagery on it. Cartoon pushing a dynamite plunger, an elephant, and a rotting old man who should be taken away.
See? Chaos. So much fun.

And finally, another picture of the rotting gourd. All the images coming out now show a creature so OBVIOUSLY in rotten decline that it is impossible to understand the reality in which we live. How in the name of an almighty Bear God are we letting THIS run our country? How?

Ballpoint sketch on newsprint of trump looking so tired and out of it that it makes you question reality.
Just go to sleep, big’un. Go to sleep HARD.

I hope you had a great weekend. I hope you had wonderful things happen to you and your loved ones. I hope THEIR weekend was filled with screams and bed-wetting nightmares. I’m tired of pretending anything else. The tide is turning and maga are turning on the administration. Write down their names. Do not forget them. They will all be accountable.
