Sketch Sunday (July 12, 2026)

July 12, 2026

This is kind of the “plein aire” sketching post. Some are truly on location and the other one would be, but I can not get to Alaska just yet.

I went to the local coffee shoppe again. There is no “sit and enjoy the day and the beverage”. Phones and computers have sucked all the joy out of just…sitting. First up is the DoomScroller.

Edge of his seat the whole time.

Next were some young ladies working (I assume). One had a computer and the other was very seriously looking at her phone. It could have been Doomscroller II, but she didn’t seem as anxious.

Ballpoint sketches of women on the phone and/or a computer at a coffee shop.
Again…VERY involved.

And last is the Plein aire (but not really). I found some newsprint pads on sale and grabbed one for loose sketching. A couple of grizzlies at Katmai Falls and a giraffe kneeling down to drink at the Ol Donyo cams.

Ballpoint sketches of grizzly bears and a giraffe on newsprint.
Newsprint bleeds through a bit but there’s a freedom to it.

I hope your weekend was fruitful and joyous. If not I hope you were a terrible thorn to what ruined your days off. Or if you didn’t have days off you get peace now. Whatever. Everything is insane. Norms are done. The world is chaos and seemingly chosen for that by those in charge. Bring them what they want!
