Another week has just flown by. A mixed bag. The ostensible leader of the free world gave a speech that was so dumb even Fox News ignored it the next day. Ice continues murdering citizens and detainees alike. Mitch McConnell despite rumors to the contrary is probably still dead. And I will be painting at the zoo in September. (More on that one later.)
But still I persevere! By drawing things to distract my brain from the grossest parts. Here’s a look at some of those.
Obviously I, like everyone else in the world has been enamored of Norwegian soccer monster Erling Haaland. I’ve known of him for a few years now but this summer has let us all in on the big silly boy he really is. It’s been delightful.
Lot of talk about presidents these days. Also, I happen to have a bobblehead of this one so I sketched his big head.
Speaking of big heads…a friend was talking about an annoying ex-coworker, then shared an unflattering picture of the coworker. I was bored.
I rewatched the movie Duel this week. Steven Spielberg’s directorial debut it was a made for TV affair starring Dennis Weaver as a traveling salesman who is being pursued by a maniac truck driver who…for reasons unknown…is trying to murder Dennis Weaver. Why? No idea. No explanation is ever given. Weaver is driving along on his way home from a sales trip and suddenly a 1957 Peterbilt is trying to smash him off the road. That’s it. That’s the story. And it is an AMAZINGLY tense movie! Taken from a short story by Richard Matheson (The Omega Man, I Am Legend, and the Nightmare at 20,000 Feet episode of The Twilight Zone) Spielberg crafted the most anxious hour and a half ever put on a television screen. I HIGHLY recommend this movie. I also doodled the truck…
Finally, I drew a bison head cause there’s a bison head on the cover of the new book I’m reading. Sometime inspiration comes from sacred places deep within the universe. Sometimes it shows up if you just cause you looked at the nightstand.
And that does it for another weekly peek. I hope you’ve had a good weekend and are comforted by the knowledge that the stress is getting to “him” and he KNOWS bad stuff is about to start falling down upon him like the diarrhea outbreak that he is directly responsible for. Fun for us.
