Wednesday Quickie (June 17, 2026)

June 17, 2026

I got busy with some other work and life things. (They never told me I had to do laundry and clean dishes ALL the time. I did not agree to these terms and conditions when I became an adult and I smell a lawsuit.) Because of this I was unable to get new art together for you on this fine Wednesday.

BUT…I did say I would share my art card that I swapped with my friend Skull Slinger. She messaged me about a potential art card swap with a Greek Mythology theme and since I had a few art cards lying around I said yes! I spent so long going through different stories that interested me. Tantalus being tormented was an interesting one for me…but one of the main drawbacks to art cards is they ARE just the size of a baseball card. 2.5″x3.5″. Some compositions just don’t work out with those parameters and detail is tougher still.

But then in a ray of golden light shining down from Olympus (or Wikipedia entries), the answer came with an entire listing of Greek stories about dealing with monster feral hogs! I chose the Eryamanthian Boar which was the 4th Labor of Hercules. The boar was tear ass-ing through the countryside destroying everything and the deal was made for Hercules to deliver the boar (alive) to the ruler. When he did, the terrified ruler hid inside of a giant vessel, thereby resulting in the world’s first slapstick comedy scene.

Ink and mixed media of Hercules facing down the Erymanthian boar with chains.
Pork chops on the hoof!

Enjoy your week and know that everything we’re dealing with now has been done before…including wrestling with a giant greedy pig that needs to be taken out and locked up before it destroys anymore of our belongings. History metaphors rule!
