Sketch Sunday (June 28, 2026)

June 28, 2026

It’s another Sketch Sunday but this one is special so I did something special for it! Today is the amazing Mel Brooks 100th birthday! He and his movies have meant so much to so many of us over the years so I wanted to do something different. This one is not in my sketchbook but it IS a sketch! Happiest 100th to the best there is!

A portrait of comedy legend Mel Brooks done entirely in red, blue, and black ballpoint scribbles.
So much Bics.

I did have a couple of other things to share though! Here is a little head sketch I did of Marv from the comic and movie Sin City.

“That is a damn fine looking coat…”

And finally the oddest one. It started off while I was working on something else and absentmindedly scribbled a circle that became the back tire of the race car and then it turned into a race (complete with starter’s lights)…and then Bob Ross was standing there commemorating the moment. I guess?

Ballpoint sketch of a small racecar next to a starting light next to Bob Ross with a palette in his hand.
“Let’s paint a happy little starting tree…”

That’s all for me today. I hope your weekend was safe and you were able to find joy somewhere.
