A different thought process for today. Usually I’m irritable about the state of the world and the awful bits of slime that seem to benefit from it…but a friend posited a hypothetical that apparently is passed around in science circles and truly has no answer. I had been working out what to talk about but this dug into my brain like a tick and it was all I could focus on! Here we go:
Nuclear power begets nuclear waste. This waste will outlive humanity more likely than not. How would we warn other civilizations that arose (or arrived) about the dangers of this toxic byproduct from our time?
And you go through so many thoughts immediately and NONE of them work! Words? Nope. They won’t be speaking our languages. Symbols? Maybe? But they could lead to confusion if they even understand them. Like the little Ghostbuster “no” symbol? Maybe they interpret it as “bad stuff is gone”. Who knows?
But every idea leads to more questions and man, this took over my afternoon. Naturally my brain goes to pictograms. Maybe this works. Maybe it doesn’t. Do you have any ideas?
And it DID take my mind off of how much I hate the current administration, all billionaires, tech bros talking about the “inevitability of ai”, and…olives. (Hate em. That taste is just AWFUL to me.) Anyways, I hope it gave you something to think about today and I hope your week has been good to you and yours. Have a great weekend and go be a giant pain to a wormy little fascist.
