I have explained this week to a few people as “I am having an “artistically manic summer”. I am working on a few projects and prepping for another and got a possible offer for something COMPLETELY different than all of those yesterday! I am currently practicing for a new method of painting for an event that I think will make nice art and will also be fun to watch WHILE I do it. It is odd to think of myself as part of the art. I am just classifying it as “performance art” so I don’t panic too much. (Here’s one of the test paintings.)
Next I am learning a new digital tool! I have always been a “ink it yourself” kind of guy. I have used digital color but I like making a mess and getting ink on my hands and arms and…pants. So much ink. But I’m trying it digitally cause I started late on something and wanted to see how it felt. So far…not terrible. I still prefer the tactile of real supplies, but we’ll see for the future.
And then I got a query to paint a book cover…but it’s potentially a style that I am not used to painting and for a genre which I am not overly read in. Some…but not a LOT. I will give it a shot.
All of this combines to create a mess in my creative brain. I’ll get it sorted but man…been awhile since I’ve had THIS much new art info going on at once. College was a LOOOONG time ago, as it were.
